This is the first in what I hope to be many blog post. I plan on talking about many things in gaming, specifically tabletop gaming. I will use this initial blog to introduce myself.
I was introduced to tabletop gaming in 1989 by a classmate in my biology class in high school. The game of course was Dungeons & Dragons. The classmate was the dm & had to other players. It wasn't long after that a friend of mine joined the group. We were now a group of 3 players and a dm. We played in the known world and used 2nd edition rules. We didn't care about the mashup, we were having fun.
We played some other games as time progressed. More people joined & left our group for various reasons. We played marvel super heroes (not too long tho), top secret as well as battle tech. We had a weird group in top secret. Our sniper liked to use uzis, hide in trees or other high places. We also had a demolition expert was a little bit better. I played a guy who drove heavy machinery, carried a bowie knife and used a 50 caliber gun. Yes I did my strength was high enough. We quit when we had to face the predator & told our plan wouldn't work. We were suppose to face him & we wouldn't win. We always went back to d&d after we stopped playing the other games.
I have played as I said becmi, 2nd edition, a home brew, a little of 4th edition, some pathfinder & now playing 5th edition. I have been a dm as well, I do like both sides of the screen. As you can see I have played many editions. I know others have played more than me. I'm not saying I'm an expert at all. I just want you to know what I have played. I will not tolerate edition bashing. We all have our preferred edition. I think as long as your playing, that's all that matters.
You may not agree with me or you may agree with what I said. That's fine with me. I'm just a guy who has been playing for awhile & want to express my thoughts. You're free to say what you want, just keep it civil please.
Till next time keep your dice on the table
